Description
I'm selling some selected records from my personal collection of original first pressings. My goal has always been to find the best possible copy out there. Especially with the cover condition you will often realize it would be pretty impossible to find a better copy anywhere.
Up for sale is a US Stereo pressing of Captain Beefhearts infamous debut album "Safe As", before his friend Frank Zappa started producing him. Released by Buddah in 1967, catalogue no. BDM 1001 / BDS 5001.
In my experience this is one of the most delicate covers in rock history, not only beause it's a white cover but also because the cardboard used is so prone to ringwear, yellowing and general wear. Not with this copy. This one is probably the best one I have ever seen. Hard to believe it's turning 60 next year! No ring wear, no creases, almost no discoloration, no seam splits, perfect corners, only some wear to the lettering on the spine (which tends to be a little dry with all copies, not much you can do about it). Please note: This issue comes from the transitional mono/stereo phase, it's one of the copies where Buddha combined the (much better looking!) mono sleeves (BDM 1001) with the stereo records with the rainbow label (BDS 5001). If you want this copy as an ultimate cover upgrade for your BDM 1001 copy, this would work great as well.
