Captain Beefheart "Too Much Time/Lo" Promo 7" Cardboard Art Sleeve Wolfman Jack.
Rare Reprise promotional issue for Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band's "Clear Spot". Don Van Vliet's earlier Reprise issues had a hardcore following and great response in concert, but relatively less sales than they'd like, so for "Clear Spot" the label put in extra effort. This promotional only single of "Too Much Time" / "Low Yo Yo Stuff" is housed in a thick cardboard foldout sleeve with inner pocket that in the front has a hot quote from radio legend Wolfman Jack ("...HIS SPIRIT IS OVERWHELMING AND I WANNA TELL YOU...") above an drawing that seems to be Wolf and Beefheart's personas merged into a werewolf with a very capable tongue. The back of the sleeve announces the LP with a quote from Don requesting airplay, and inside the front flap is an announcement mocking or celebrating the attempt to appeal to a wider audience. Entry level Beefheart if you will, but without losing what made him unique.
The sleeve has very slight wear, the single and its labels none, kept carefully over the years. Offered by the author of the Goldmine cover story on CB (among other articles and radio shows); Covid wiped out my savings so some things from the collection up...
