Description
Hello and thanks for stopping by my auctions!
Today I'm selling off one of my prizes, Carl Flesch playing "Hejre Kati" (Hubay - Scenes de la Csarda) and "Reverie" (Vieuxtemps Op. 22 #3). Excellent performances. This extraordinarily rare disc was released by the Edison company in 1929 at the very end of production, hardly any of these were sold and this may be the hardest to find issue in the 12 inch classical series, this is only the second copy I've ever encountered in 30 years of collecting 78s, the last being a copy sold here (in comparable condition, at that) a bit over a year ago which went for $800. This particular copy is nice, overall a strong V++, it has it's share of scuffs and small scratches that may pop or tick here and there (mostly cosmetic) and it's a typical Edison pressing of the era with a couple of closed pressing pimples, but it plays well, especially with a larger stylus (a 3.8 or 4.0 mil works great here). There are no grey grooves at all, but I believe this may have spent some time without a sleeve. That said, this is being started at $9.99 with no further reserve and I'll ship it worldwide. I'm happy to answer questions you may have, so please ask. This WILL require insurance for final value with NO EXCEPTIONS due to it's rarity. A great addition to your Edison phonograph or record collection and a true rarity! Please be confident bidding on my auctions, I've been buying and selling 78s for several years!
Shipping is $4 in the USA for up to three 78s, add 50 cents for each additional disc over three. International postage is higher and at cost to the buyer. Insurance is totally REQUIRED for this disc for the buyer, I pack well and have never had a disc arrive damaged, but the PO isn't always gentle! I have been collecting and selling 78s for over 20 years now, so you have no worries about poor packing here. Please DO check my feedback and bid with confidence! Now for a word about feedback, PLEASE contact me if you have any issues with your purchases, I promise your satisfaction, period. As always, thank you for looking and GOOD LUCK!!!
If you are the winner of this auction, please wait for my invoice. The auction ends late on Sunday May 6th. I will invoice the winning bidder with an accurate invoice including shipping and insurance costs on the following day once I've had a chance to get an accurate amount. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
Record Grading Chart:
N- (or NM or M-): Store Stock NEW (a rare grade to use!)
E+: Looks almost new, maybe a tiny paper scratch from sleeve, never any wear; a choice copy
E: Excellent. Perhaps a light scuff or scratch but never anything serious. Still no wear.
E-: Still excellent, but maybe one or two more traces of above use and perhaps a couple more light scratches.
V+: Obvious use and maybe a bit of wear, still a decent copy, but was enjoyed by the prior owner(s). Maybe gray grooves, but they should be noted.
V: As above, but wear noticeable, scratches and scuffing should be expected to affect play.
V-: Noise and wear, scratches etc will be almost as loud as the music, won't look pretty.
F or P: Wiped out, period, may not be playable.
