Description
Afro-Cuban band leader, historian, journalist Carlos Barbería was succesful in 1950s Cuba and in NY from the 1960s through the '90s. He always has fine musicians and skilled soneros in his band. Carlos gave the amazing Raul Planas his first recording opportunities. This LP features the above average Panamanian sonero Tito Contreras who was highly influenced by Beny Moré on most tracks. Also with fellow Panameño, Meñique guesting on 1 track as does Willy "El Baby" on 3. Two veterans of the Cuban Kubavana are present, Rolando "el Ruso" Aguilo is lead trumpet and Marcelino Valdés is on bongó and timbal. Arrangers include Tito Puente and Bebo Valdés. Vinyl: Mint minus, no spindle wear, no spindle markings
Top, side and bottom edges show a bit of wear. Corners show some minimal wear/ Front and back covers show some minimal rub wear. No seam separation.
