Description
Original United Artists stereo press.Cat Mother were a diverse group of musicians living in New York City (including Larry Packer, Bob Smith & Michael Equine) and were playing in local clubs from 1967 onwards. They were signed to Polydor by Jimi Hendrix's manager, Michael Jeffrey and their first album was produced by Jimi Hendrix, a long time friend in November 1968. They also supported him on tour in the US following its release in 1969, before relocating to Mendocino, California in 1970 to record their second album. Their third album was recorded in September 1972 back in New York at Electric lady Studios, but not released until 1973.
This is the original issue with the tan United Artists labels, the earliest A-2U B-2U matrices & matching 1-G 1-G stampers of the very earliest first presses.
The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd textured matt cover is in EX condition, with some light edge/corner wear and some light storage rubbing on the outer cover. The spine is intact & fully readable and the plain company inner is intact & in VG+ condition.
The record is in visually EX+ condition with only a couple of light hairline/sleeve removal marks and small area of light bag scuffs visible on each side. The labels are clean & bright in EX+ condition, with no evidence of spindle markings on either side.
The sound reproduction is EX+ clear & vibrant throughout with no loud pops, crackle or hiss & definately no skips, sticks or jumps on either side, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great loud & clear listen. The matrix nos. are UAG-29313, A-2U mother stampers 1-G, B-2U, mother stampers 1-G, this is one of the very earliest pressings of the original UK stereo issue of this album.
