"Cat Stevens" Org Master-MFSL-LP "Teaser and the Firecat" Search

Up for your Consideration is this Original Master-Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab or (MFSL) Recording LP by “Cat Stevens”  titled “Teaser and the Firecat”... Just another piece of fantastic Vinyl that you can’t get a hold of anymore…originally released in 1971  by A&M Records Inc.…with a product number of MFSL 1-244 ...this Fantastic LP Album is in Excellent Condition...doesn’t appear to have ever been played…but there are 3 small scratches on side one…I was told if you can’t feel them with your finger they don’t really matter.. who ever had these records before me took impeccable care of them...I have played it and the scratches do not effect the sound… the Cover is in Very Excellent Condition… it looks new on both front and back  …the static free rice paper inner sleeve is in Excellent Condition ….There is all kinds of paperwork that comes with the LP….. Again the Record appears to have never been played before...except for the 3 scratches otherwise no nicks, smudges or scuffs… I have posted below part of the Bio, Review (from the regular LP), the rating and I've listed the tracks from www.allmusic.com   they gave the regular LP 5 stars …I have acquired about 2000 pieces of music from CD’s, 45"s, LP's, Cassettes, CD Long Boxes, Music Magazines, Picture Disc.'s , Reel to Reel's & 8 Tracks...which I have been listing over the last several months... I don't know allot about music or grading... but I can tell if something is in Excellent Condition or not and will list it accordingly.... I don't clean any of the CD's or LP's because I don't know how and I might scratch them...I inspect everything under bright sun light and state what I see...Condition is a very subjective thing and is up to each person’s perspective...- If I have left anything out that is important to you...please email me with any questions.... Please look at all of the pictures since they are a part of the description also...this LP would make a wonderful addition to any one’s "Cat Stevens " Collection...or any one’s Vintage MFSL Record Collection…if you want this great album bid on it early...don't let a sniper, snipe it out from under you... Cat Stevens, born Steven Demetre Georgiou, was the son of a Swedish mother and a Greek father who ran a restaurant in London. He became interested in folk music and rock & roll in his teens while attending Hammersmith College and in 1965 began performing under the name Steve Adams. Mike Hurst, a former member of the folk-pop group the Springfields, who had become a record producer, heard him and took him into a recording studio to cut his composition "I Love My Dog." This demo caused Decca Records to sign him under the name Cat Stevens and assign him to its newly formed Deram subsidiary. "I Love My Dog" reached the British charts in October 1966, peaking in the Top 40. Stevens' next single, "Matthew & Son," entered the charts in January 1967 and just missed getting to number one (in America, it grazed the bottom of the charts). It was another self-written effort, and Stevens' reputation as a writer was further enhanced by the success of his song "Here Comes My Baby," which was recorded by the Tremeloes and entered the British charts in February, reaching the Top Five. (In America, it peaked just outside the Top Ten.)

Even as a serious-minded singer/songwriter, Cat Stevens never stopped being a pop singer at heart, and with Teaser and the Firecat he reconciled his philosophical interests with his pop instincts. Basically, Teaser's songs came in two modes: gentle ballads that usually found Stevens and second guitarist Alun Davies playing delicate lines over sensitive love lyrics, and up-tempo numbers on which the guitarists strummed away and thundering drums played in stop-start rhythms. There were also more exotic styles, such as the Greek-styled "Rubylove," with its twin bouzoukis and a verse sung in Greek, and "Tuesday's Dead," with its Caribbean feel. Stevens seemed to have worked out some of his big questions, to the point of wanting to proselytize on songs like "Changes IV" and "Peace Train," both stirring tunes in which he urged social and spiritual improvement. Meanwhile, his love songs had become simpler and more plaintive. And while there had always been a charming, childlike quality to some of his lyrics, there were songs here that worked as nursery rhymes, and these were among the album's most memorable tracks and its biggest hits: "Moonshadow" and "Morning Has Broken," the latter adapted from a hymn. The overall result was an album that was musically more interesting than ever, but lyrically dumbed-down. Stevens continued to look for satisfaction in romance, despite its disappointment, but he found more fulfillment in a still-unspecified religious pursuit that he was ready to tout to others. And they were at least nominally ready to listen: the album produced three hit singles and just missed topping the charts. Tea for the Tillerman may have been the more impressive effort, but Teaser and the Firecat was the Cat Stevens album that gave more surface pleasures to more people, which in pop music is the name of the game.
