Chain Of Strength - What Holds Us Apart 7" CHAIN CREW, out of 100
If you're looking at this auction, I'm sure you already know what this is. The elusive CHAIN CREW reject press, out of only 100 copies, is one of the most sought after straight edge hardcore records of all time. This copy is in NEAR MINT condition - cover and vinyl are seriously perfect. This one has lost its insert somewhere along the way. But don't worry, it's absolutely not a bootleg. It has the appropriate "ribbed" paper cover that all Chain Crews were printed on, the matrix etching on the vinyl matches perfectly, everything is in order. Trust me, I compared it to my other Chain Crew copy that I own (no, I'm not selling it), and every detail matches perfectly. Here is the pressing information straight from Revelation Records.
- Chain of Strength What Holds Us Apart : 7" 1991 --- Foundation Records 1 Test press : black vinyl 45 rpm, either orange or white labels. reject press : 500 black vinyl This was the original mix that the band didn't like so was never released. 100 went to each band member; Chris Bratton sold his 100, then sleeves were made and then sold at the first Dayton hardcore festival as the "Chain Crew" press. Note that the "Chain Crew" press refers to only the 100 who had the sleeves made up for them (the cover is the same photo used on the Circle Storm 7"). The other 400 have creeped up in circulation here and there and are part of the bad pressing but are not technically the "Chain Crew". Test press : 4-8 black vinyl 33 rpm, white label. 1st press : 2000 black vinyl 2000 were released with the normal sleeve and a poster, or the normal sleeve and one of two different paper inserts. Test press : 4 black vinyl A different cut from the previous that can be noted due to the different groove sets on the vinyl. I do not know whether this or the First Strike version came first chronologically. 2nd press : black vinyl This run consists of the 1000 that were sold to Mindpower, plus a number that were given a "Confusion" sleeve which contains the same glossy insert and labels as the Mindpower version. --- First Strike Records (England) 1st press : 15 black vinyl test presses 221 white vinyl 1264 blue vinyl Blue sleeve. Total adds up nicely to 1500. 2nd press : 500 black vinyl Red sleeve. 3rd press : 500 clear vinyl Green sleeve. --- Mindpower Records 1st press : 200 black vinyl : blue sleeve 800 black vinyl : gold sleeve These were from Foundation Records (even has a Foundation label). This auction is a part of the collection of Kyle at Rivalry Records and the Seeking The Simple vinyl blog.
