Description

Savoy MG-12009, “Charlie Parker Memorial” from the mid-1950s.  Original heavy DG vinyl plays at VG++ for most of the album with little background sound; there are a few isolated pops.  The heavy laminated jacket has solid seams but considerable chipping of the laminate, and there is a laminate crack in the center at bottom. There is heavy wear on the corners.  The jacket back is somewhat soiled and age-toned.  This is a collection of short takes of Bird numbers, plus some longer tracks labeled as originals.  A few are cut off in mid-number.  They include “Barbados”, “Constellation”, “Parker’s Mood”, “Perhaps”, “Marmaduke”, “Donna Lee”, “Chasing the Bird”, “Buzzy”, “Milestones”, “Half Nelson”, “Sippin at Bells”, “Billie’s Bounce”, and “Thriving on a Riff”.  Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $20.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, and Australia; elsewhere inquire.  Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 per LP domestic, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, I strongly recommend registered mail for $12.00 extra.  Many old records are now practically antiques and should be treated that way.  This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides.  It is designed thick enough not to be caught in a postal conveyor belt and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window with no damage to LP or jacket.  More than two LPs may be mailed together in a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped.  All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
