Description
This is your chance to purchase a very rare & original Acetate recording by Charlie Parker & Miles Davis of:
Slow Boat To China / White Christmas.
Record size: 12" Label: White Label, handwritten text. Recorded at The Royal Roost, 1580 Broadway, New York. Features Charlie Parker (Alto Sax), Miles Davis (Trumpet), Al Haig (Piano), Tommy Potter (Bass), Max Roach (Drums).
The acetate is playable (I have played it once) and you do get a great reproduction of the tunes, albeit with nicks and picks that`s to be associated with a disc of this age (assuming recorded in the 1940`s, this makes it over 70 years old).
In order to provide a reliable and honest appraisal, I`ve provided some additional close-ups showing:- - The metal base that the Acetate is sat upon - The location hole underneath the label (can be seen beneath the `R` in `Roost`.) The purpose of this hole was to stop the disc from slipping on the recording turntable.. - The White `bloom` that looks like mildew - it`s not. The `bloom` is in fact due to the wax releasing from the acetate degrading over many years. There are solutions that can remove this, but I don`t want to damage this item so I have kept it in it`s honest condition. - The imperfections on the edge of the disc particularly are shown, although you wouldn`t play this part.
The item will be packaging carefully in order for it to reach the winning bidder unharmed. The postage price is for UK Mainland only. The price quoted for `International Worldwide` is for USA only (£40.00 GBP). Please ask me for a price if you are from outside the USA BEFORE you bid, in order to avoid a surprise! Please pay via Paypal only, within 24 hours of the winning bid. Postage/shipping price displayed is for UK mainland only, please contact me if you require this item to be shipped outside of the UK. Good luck with your bid!
