RE: DVD, Blu-ray and Video Game

1. Two key factors in the playback environment

There are two things you must check before purchasing DVDs and Blu-rays. They are image transmission standard and region code.

Video games also have region code issues.

Music CDs do not have this problem and our CDs can be played on players all over the world.

(However, SACD requires a SACD player.)

(1) NTSC/PAL

There are two types of image transmission standards.
NTSC is the mainstream in Japan, the United States, Canada, Taiwan, South Korea, and Central and South America.
PAL is the mainstream in Europe, Africa, China, Australia, Brazil, etc.
There is no compatibility between the two, and a playback environment that supports NTSC is required to watch Japanese DVDs and Blu-rays, except for region-free ones.

(2) Region code

This is a playback restriction by sales region, and there are 6 region codes in the world.
For example, the region code for the United States and Canada is 1, Western Europe and Japan is 2, Southeast Asia, South Korea and Taiwan is 3.
Playback is not possible unless the region code of the playback environment and the region code of the software match.

Unless otherwise specified, our DVDs and Blu-rays are NTSC-J, that is, NTSC with region code 2.

Please be sure to secure an environment in which NTSC-J software can be played before purchasing.

2. Problem solving method

Even if your playback environment does not support NTSC-J, there are some reasonable solutions.

(1) Purchase a region-free player.

It's available from around $30 these days, so look for it.

(2) Change the region code of your computer

There is no distinction between NTSC and PAL on a personal computer.
You can change the region code of your computer. A specific method can be found by searching for "computer region code change".
The problem is that the number of changes is limited to about 5 times, so you can only see one of the region codes in the end.

(3) Change the region code of the video

There is another way to play on your computer.
There are softwares that can copy a video from a disc, change the region code and save it as a separate video file.
Try looking it up in a search engine. Some are free.

Regarding the above preparations, we cannot give further advice, as individual computer environments are too diverse.

Please check carefully and make decisions on your own responsibility.
