Description
Rare 1956 reissue of Chet Baker Sings on World Pacific Records. Jacket is completely split. Record has surface marks on both sides and some pressing dimples, but plays through except for three light forward skips on side A on A1, A2, and A4. These results are from a playtest tracked at 1.5g on an Ortofon Blue cartridge. There is surface noise throughout, especially on A side where surface scuffs and scratches are heavier. Pops and clicks exist on side A and B also, but are stronger on A side. A thorough spin-clean resulted in better play, and a VPI or professional cleaning MAY remove some of the pops and ticks, but the hiss and light A-side forward skips may not have a remedy. In spite of the noise, beautiful music still comes from the speakers, and he surface noise becomes far less annoying after A4. See photos and message with questions.
