Description
A collector's item featuring some of jazz's early West Coast stars including Chet Baker and Dick Twardzik, a rarely recorded pianist who died while on this tour. The album has not been played in many years but I cannot give it a rating having no turntable available. The album cover is worn through at top right (see photo). Includes the cover, sleeve and record as shown in picture.
Addendum: Was able to get and set up a Technics SL-D1 direct drive turntable with an arm set at 1.5 grams and anti-skip setting at 1.5 and played this record. There were no skips although there were the clicks and pops that one might expect from a record of this vintage. Having been around to witness the infancy of West Coast jazz and a DJ featuring that genre into the early 60's, I have owned this record since that time. Most of my Pacific Jazz records have been transferred to my iPod using Xitel's system and their software did a reasonable job of dealing with those imperfections. I am NOT in the business of rating the quality of a record in the sense that some record sellers are.
Given the material on this recording including some rare recordings of Dick Twardzik, this is a collector's item.
