Description
Chicken Shack - 40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed and Ready to Serve
ORIGINAL COPY. FIRST UK PRESSING. Released 1968. Mono. Blue Horizon Records, catalogue number; 7-63203, Matrix numbers; 7-63203 A1/B1.
Superb original first UK press on this collectable label. Produced by Mike Vernon and featuring Christine Perfect, later of Fleetwood Mac. This LP formed part of a superbly preserved collection. Bought new at the time of release, the former owner (a librarian, really) was fanatical about looking after his vinyl and this record was only occasionally played on a Linn deck. Please see the other LPs from this collection we are currently selling, all of which are Excellent to Mint.
Currently selling for $50-$188 on GEMM.
The last copy sold on eBay went for £68.
99p start.
Overall Sleeve Condition : VERY GOOD ++
Front cover: Laminated front cover. The laminate sleeve is glossy, with bright, unfaded colours. Very light rubs to the laminate can be seen when viewed under a bright light at an angle. There are also a few tiny creases. Very light staining, virtually invisible.
Rear cover: Matt rear cover, some light rubs and the sleeve is not quite flat.
Edges: Very light rubbing in a few places.
Corners: Very light rubs.
Opening Slit: No scuffs, no rubs, no tears.
Vinyl Condition, Visual: MINT
This looks superb, and has been kept in a polylined inner sleeve. A few tiny marks from the record being removed from the inner sleeve. These marks do not affect playback in any way.
Vinyl Condition, Audible: MINT.
Plays superbly. Well preserved and cared for, no decrease from the original sound quality. Kept in stunning condition by the previous owner. No skips, no jumps, no static crackle, no dust crackles, no sign of any play, no wear. The above mentioned marks are not audible.
Label Condition : MINT.
Rough textured Blue Horizon label.

AMG Review
...this is a promising debut, especially noteworthy for Webb's Freddie King-inspired guitar sting and Christine Perfect's understated vocals (only two, unfortunately compared to Webb's six). Webb does justice to his mentor with two instrumentals, King's "San-Ho-Zay" and his own "Webbed Feet," and Perfect proves the ideal counterpart — one of the few pianists paying homage to King's longtime collaborator Sonny Thompson. Nice spare sound, typical of Mike Vernon's Blue Horizon label.
