Chrome Box 6 LPs
One of the Holy Grails of vinyl! Half Machine Lip Moves, Alien Soundtracks, Blood On the Moon, No Humans Allowed and The Chronicles 1 and 2. Helios Creed and Damon Edge at their best and most dangerous. I bought this at Subterranean Records (watched them assemble the box) in 1982 and have cared for them lovingly since. Don't let this one pass you by.
Chrome was one of the first industrial musical groups. Chrome consisted of Helios Creed (guitar) and Damon Edge (Drums and synthesizers), although it was formed by Gary Spain (bass, guitar, vocals) and Edge in 1976. At that time the band also included John Lambdin (vocals, guitar and bass) and Mike Low (guitar, synth, and bass). After the first LP, The Visitation, Low and Lambdin left, and after the second LP, Alien Soundtracks, Spain became less involved with the band.
Between 1978 and 1982, Edge and Creed (at some point with the Stench Bros.) released a handful of albums. In "The secret history of rock" Helios Creed said they wanted to make some "scary, funny music". Their experimental rock was into science-fiction, alienation, cynicism, ...
When they split the band up in 1983, Damon Edge continued on with the name, hiring a complete new band in Europe. The music was a good bit different: still loud abrasive post-punk music, but less experimental in texture. Edge moved to France and released several records under the name Chrome.
Damon Edge died in Los Angeles the summer of 1995, of heart failure. After Damon's death, Helios picked up the name and began releasing new material.
