Chuck Berry After School Session Chess EP 5118 U.S.

Here's a real nice e.p. in collectible condition: the original U.S. label Chuck Berry "After School Session extended play (EP) album taken from his first LP (Chess EP 5118) with four GREAT songs: School Day (his greatest!), Wee Wee Hours, Too Much Monkey Business (cosmic funny) and Brown-Eyed Handsome Man (Chuck's sly nod to black men's superiority, radical stuff for 1956!).   I saw a copy of this same EP at the Austin Texas show last year at a big time dealer's table - it was trashed, both cover and vinyl, and he wanted $350 for it - that's how rare this is, and because of its black cover, it usually has ring wear and other problems.  

This copy is real nice, somewhere between VG+ and NM.   The front cover looks NM, hardly any wear, which is unusual for a black shiny cover (see picture) and the seams are all great.   No creases and the cover retains some minty freshness to it.   There is a tiny name written to the left of Chuck's right arm, looks like "Jam" that has been mostly removed, leaving a ghost image of the mark.   It doesn't look bad and the front cover is real nice and fresh, this would display very nicely.    Back cover is NM (they are often severely toned - browned - this one is not and is very nice.     The vinyl is VG+ with some minor scuffing, nothing major and no deep scratches, just a few sleeve marks and minor stuff.   I play-graded the vinyl and it plays great, Chuck is rockin' out in the grooves.   The labels on the vinyl are NM except there is an almost invisible blue pen mark ("Jam" again) to the right of the CHESS name, you have to look hard to see it.    Other than this nearly invisible mark, the labels are excellent.

Well, there you are, I tried to describe it accurately.    Please check my feedback, I grade fairly and honestly.    This is a beautiful ep and extremely hard to get at all, the last three I saw in dealer's hands were in much worse shape than this one, it is real nice and you will be happy with it.     I'll bet alot of record dealers will bid on it for resale, this is a hot item in constant demand.     You could get a bargain on this one, start bid is 99 cents with NO reserve!
