Description
These albums represent a valuable window into the social history of the late USSR. Vysotsky and Okudjava, each in their own brilliant way, helped people in the Soviet Union to sing, laugh and cry their way to some sense of dignity. They also showed how censored artists found a way to make a direct, essential connection with the people that the state could only dream of. Finally, some would argue that these two artists, among others of the Soviet era, belong in conversations about the incredible legacy of Russian poetry.
Packing Details: I invested almost $5/album for packing materials, to ensure that you will receive them in the same condition shown in the photos. First, I purchased thick plastic 12 x 12 sleeves for each of the discs so that they wouldn’t damage the original cover and sleeve. I then sandwiched each disc between the original cover/sleeve and a 12 x 12 square of shipping box corrugated cardboard. Finally, I double-wrapped the “sandwich” in 3/16 bubble wrap. I also purchased blue painters’ tape to make each album package easier to unwrap. The bubble-wrapped album packages are surrounded by layers of 5/16 large bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard pieces, paperboard, thick packing paper and newspaper, inside a 16 x 12 x 10 shipping box.
