Description

Coleman Hawkins - The High And Mighty Hawk,

Felsted American Recordings catno SJA.2005

Runouts:

Side 1 - ALZ-9-1E

Side 2 - ALZ-10-2E

Part of my grandfathers collection originally, stored safely and unplayed since at least 1983...

Vinyl - truly excellent regardless of age and even more excellent when that is considered too, being 63yrs old!  Literally the surface wear amounts to small number of minor hairlines and a sprinkling of superficial ones and is somewhere between VG+ and NM.  Many would grade NM and ive purchased NM records myself that appear considerably worse despite being considerably younger.  No doubt about it this is a remarkable example and find!  Labels excellent too with one faint spindle mark to side 2.  Will undergo a double deep clean in the Degritter upon sale.

Jacket - original clarifoil showing its age moreso.  These clarifoil jobbies are pretty floppy and weak tbh and dont seem upto the job.  They always come apart too ive found.  This is no different having been tape repaired to upper rear BUT overall it is also really holding up well having no other problems worth mentioning at the moment.  The front in particular looks nothing like its age.  Cant be sure if the inner sleeve is original but could well be, is poly lined and doing a great job.

Its a rare record, its one of the great sax masters and its got the provenance and lack of use and condition a collector/fan is sure to appreciate.... priced to reflect this and the couple of dcogs sales.

Thanks for looking!
