Description
COLLIN WALCOTT "Cloud Dance" LP | 1976 ECM German 1st Press | Abercrombie Holland DeJohnette
A groundbreaking and influential masterpiece of World Fusion. This is an original 1976 German first pressing of Collin Walcott's seminal album, "Cloud Dance," on the legendary ECM Records. A must-have for any serious jazz vinyl collector.
A Quartet of Jazz Legends
This album is the work of a true supergroup, a quartet of jazz titans who seamlessly blended Eastern and Western musical traditions to create something entirely new. It features the pioneering work of Collin Walcott on sitar and tabla, the fluid and inventive guitar of John Abercrombie, the foundational and deeply melodic bass of Dave Holland, and the singular, dynamic drumming of Jack DeJohnette. "Cloud Dance" was one of the first and most successful albums to integrate Indian classical instruments into a modern jazz quartet setting, creating a sound that is both meditative and exhilarating.
The Legendary ECM Production
Recorded at the famed Tonstudio Bauer in Ludwigsburg by the peerless team of producer Manfred Eicher and engineer Martin Wieland, this album embodies the pristine, spacious, and deeply organic "ECM Sound." This is an original Made in W. Germany first pressing, sought after by audiophiles for its superior vinyl quality and the stunning clarity with which it captures these acoustic and electric textures.
Detailed Condition Report (Goldmine Standard)
Vinyl: Excellent (EX)
A beautiful copy of the record itself. The vinyl is very clean and retains its original deep, glossy lustre. Under a strong light, only a couple of the faintest wispy paper scuffs are visible. A fantastic, top-tier listening copy that plays with superb clarity.
Sleeve: Good (G)
Please note the sleeve grading. The sleeve is fully intact and solid, but shows significant signs of its age and shelf life, which is common for these dark, unlaminated covers. There is clearly visible ring wear and rubbing on both the front and back surfaces. The corners and edges show significant wear and bumping. The spine, however, remains intact and legible. It has done its job of protecting the excellent vinyl within. Please examine all photos carefully.
