THE GREATER EXPERIENCE

Don't Forget To Remember/Carol's Carol

Colony 13 Label

Danville, VA

CSP 45-2572

#237 (?)

THE RECORD'S PAST: I found this record at an estate sale of a man who was 102.  He keep most of his things and records in excellent shape.  All of his records have covers, some with their shrink and with a Woolworth's price tag of .89 cents.  He also had a Sealed .25 BIC!  How many of us can say that?!!  You can bet I will be posting that by the end of the week.   MY PRICING: I understand that's a heavy tag to carry!  I justify it by the rarity of the title and the condition of my record.  The data I saw showed that only 12 have ever been offered.  The highest sale was $975.  And there's only been one offered since 11/09.  I believe the quality of my record beats theirs.  The starting price doesn't seem way out of range for the final sales of similar records.  The BIN was added for a possible quick sale.  You know, it's the end of the month and bills are due.  I don't really think I'll get $1500, but I didn't know where to cut it off.  Can't really blame me...I didn't want to turn money down either.  Just in case. Below I will describe and show you how mine beats theirs.  I believe that as the SELLER, it is my responsibility to show you...prove to you...that what you are considering, is REAL.  But in the end, it is You...The BUYER...who will assign its true value. As a New Seller, I hope you forgive my error in judgement!  I am still learning what the true spirit of an auction is really about. I have revised the beginning price of the auction, and removed the BIN.   THE CONDITION OF THE 45: The record is in Like New condition.
  • There are No Markings or Stains on the labels.
  • The dead vinyl shiny and mark free, except for the markings.
  • On Side 1 (DFTR), there is a mark about a half inch that looks like a hair, but can't be felt on the surface.
  • On Side 2 (CC), there a thin, light ghosty white streak.
  • There is a little roughness on part of the edge, but this doesn't affect the recording.
  • The jacket is white (maybe one-sided yellow).  It is in Acceptable condition, a small tear on the bottom of the front, but you can definitely tell which end was stored "up"

I do not see any grooves or needle marks.  I read a previous 45 posting where they said the hairs in the spindle core mean it has never been played.  This made sense to me.  In use, as you add/remove the 45 adapter, the hairs would be quickly torn away.  So honestly, I don't know whether or not it has ever been played, but everything I see leads me to that conclusion.

I also make mention of #237.  In the pictures I show the record ID (appears handwritten) into the dead vinyl.  To the upper-right of the record number, there is a 237 etched.  I haven't seen this referenced in any other posting's, so I am unclear if this means (#) 237, but I wanted to make mention of it.  There is a CC etched in both sides, so I thought this was the Tech's initials.  If I am wrong, please disregard.

If it is helpful, I found this link to a YouTube video of the song.  This is not an audio file of my actual record, but I thought you may find this helpful.
