You're bidding for a rare 45yr old First pressing copy of Colosseum - VALENTYNE SUITE album !
Yes - This really is a rarity. which has been in my possession since buying it in 1969.!! The album the original issue on the Vertigo (Phillips) label, characterised by the 'Op-Art' swirling logo and label. A truly brilliant album from Jimmy Litherland's powerful opening chords on The Kettle, through to Dick Heckstall-Smith's ethereal twin twin-sax playing to on The Valentyne Suite itself, this is some original Jazz Rock at it's very best! With the intro out the way, please note.. I am NOT a dealer in any way, and so my descriptions are as honest and correct as I they can possibly be, but not couched in the the official gradings format, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I am gradually disposing of my Vinyl collection which I have replaced electronically. So here goes....
Cover - The original double Gatefold sleeve in reasonable condition for it's age.. It isn't the best, the Spine and edges show some scuffing.. (see photo,) some scuffing to the corners and edges, but the printing on the spine is readable in places. (Photo attached). The inside is in good condition. Apart from the rim wear, the sleeve is OK with no rips etc.
The inner sleeve - Still the original Vertigo polythene lined sleeve. It is a bit creased, a small split in the outer edge, otherwise the sort of condition you would expect for a 45 year old bit of paper.
Cataloguing.- The album is catalogued as VO1 847 900 VTY (Side 1). On the side 1 run-off it has 886775 1Y1 etched, and on side 2 it has 886775 2Y1. There is some surface marking, and overall I would describe the condition as OK. There are no deep scratches or major road crashes on the surface, and I believe that it would still play well. That said it is a 45 year old piece of vinyl which has been well played in the past, although not for many years !! The label is the ORIGINAL 1969 label and is in vgc with no unsightly spindle marking.
As a first pressing 1969 edition, this album would be very valuable (£100+) if it was in excellent condition. It isn't. However, It looks almost as good as other offerings currently available on Ebay which seem to be going for an awful lot more !!. The bidding starts low, and I'll let the market decide it's worth. I have tried to be as descriptive as possible, and have taken time to photograph it as well as possible for you to see and judge. You make the decision to bid based on that. Note: My feedback is 100% - always has been.(Feel free to read !!)
I will send securely wrapped in bubble wrap, and packed in stiff cardboard outer. Postage UK by Royal mail second class parcels. I will post overseas, at buyers risk, and expense, with an insured option. I have quoted £12.60, but this may vary either way, depending on location of Buyer, and whether or not insurance is required.
