Description
Wow, check this out: a seven inch Columbia announced record, #1499, circa 1904. An unnamed baritone sings an aria from the Verdi opera "Otello", with piano. Dramatic and skillful singing, very nice listen. The record plays well with some surface noise. Otello, was written in 1893, so this was recorded about 10 years after its premiere, just amazing! Columbia started making disc records in late 1901. In 1904, most people had cylinder phonographs, not disc phonographs. This is early disc history, very rare, if this is what you like, do not pass it up!
