READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality.

They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute.

Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

Columbia PROMO LP Various ’70 ’71 Santana, Chicago-Heavy, Janis Joplin, VG+!

For auction this week are my three Columbia white label promos, which are various artists of some of the best hits from 1964 to 1971.

They’ve been in storage for a number of years, and they will play with a little surface noise.  But a few plays will clear that up.  Also, either a good VPI cleaning or using D4 will bring them back to full fidelity.

These albums were never issued to the public.

The really cool thing about Columbia’s promos is that they had to completely remaster the tracks for radio airplay.  That means that while many of the tracks are the same mixes, different elements can pop forward that you never noticed before.

Here is the last of the three.

Vinyl--- VG+/VG+.  A few light scratches and scuffs per side, none of which are feelable.  90% original shine.

Plates--- 1A/1A.  Definitely remastered plates for broadcast.

Cover--- Good.  Looks like a cat was having some separation anxiety for having been left alone.  Corners are chewed off.  Name written on front cover.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Side 1 label has some rust-colored paper around the playhole.  Otherwise, labels look nearly new.

Inner Sleeve--- VG.  Sleeve presents very well.  Nice and flat, razor-sharp edges and corners.  But one side has a seam split a couple inches, and the bottom has a wide center seam split.  Almost no yellowing.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve en route.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)

Check out my other auctions for more hard-to-find vinyl!
