Combo Santa Maria - Plantacion LP "Salsa 81'" + POSTER + event tickets and business card. See photos for track list and songwriting credits which include Ruben Blades (Plantación).

This Auction is for an LP, plus large Poster about 35x22 inches in size, plus promo stuff from an event that were inside this sleeve, they are passes to some kind of event, probably where the band was playing, and a business card from a promotion company. The music is really cool and features the keyboards and cuíca on some track, and some unusual vocal effects, the lead singer on all the songs has a gorgeous voice! He sings in an elegant tenor voice over some delicious salsa rhythms (and a little bit of cumbia) with occasional psychedelic synth sounds thrown in,  I uploaded some of the tracks which you can hear if you copy these links to your browser  for song PLANTACION    http://youtu.be/dLqF7DW2J5Y     OR this link for the song NEGRO JOSE     http://youtu.be/heqmDx-SLIc   .  If you hear any skips on the playback it is NOT from the record but come from youtube's playback, you can start the song over and you will not hear the same part skip again. These clips were made with this LP, PLEASE TAKE A LISTEN before bidding this way you can check the sound quality as well, I did not use any filter or clean the sound in any way. The epic title track Plantación is my favorite and has some psych/ synth stuff in the middle.

This large combo was from Guadalajara México but their music is not so Mexican, it's more like the classic 70's or 80's stuff from New York guys like Ruben Blades and Willy Colon but with some unusual/psychedelic touches on a few of the tracks.

The condition of the vinyl is VG++, it looks very clean and shiny but upon looking at it with direct sunlight I can see some faint marks made possibly by folds in the inner plastic sleeve that the record was inside of for the past 30 years, I am not sure that this effects the sound significantly, it sounds excellent with some light background noise at some times there is less and occasionally a little more, the audio tracks in the links above are a good example of what the record sounds like throughout, some of the tracks sound a little better and some of the other tracks a little worse and some have an occasional light pop. There is one slight thump which is really only noticeable if you have the sound up and pay close attention, it repeats a couple of times towards the end of the song "Eso No Es Amor" it is due to a manufacturing defect dimple-like thing that is there. I know the price is not cheap for this rare record so I am trying to be as thorough as I can with my observations and descriptions. Please ask for any more details if you would like.

The sleeve is a strong VG++  It does have some very slight ring wear but mostly on the outside of the plastic shrink wrap, which you can remove if you d like. In the photos it looks a bit strange because the shrink wrap is still partially on and I don't want to take it off, so the lines you see in the photo are of the wrapping that is folded on itself in some areas, you can remove that when you get it if you like and the whole thing will look much nicer.

The poster is in VG++ condition. and what a cool addition, with the bands contact telephone #s on the bottom right!
