Description

Condition: LPs Near Mint (played all of twice); packaging Very Good+. There are minor wrinkles in the covers of the included Mosaic booklet, which includes essays by critic Robert Palmer and the late record producer Michael Cuscuna. Mr. Cuscuna probably holds the world record for overseeing the most Jazz recording reissues.


Mosaic Records Catalog # MR4-106. Boxed set # 2938 of edition limited to 7500. Recorded 1958-1961.

Behind the Music: This is modern sophisticated Jazz at its best, originally from Blue Note Records. PERSONNEL (varies from session to session): Brooks—tenor sax; Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Blue Mitchell, Johnny Coles—trumpet; Jackie McLean—alto sax [one selection only]; Sonny Clark, Duke Jordan, Kenny Drew—piano; Paul Chambers, Doug Watkins, Sam Jones, Wilbur Ware—bass; Art Blakey, Arthur Taylor, Philly Joe Jones—drums.
