Description

As you know, the Cook Binaural disc is somewhat rare on its own. And, this copy is at least a VG+, maybe NM-. The cover isn’t great, though. It’s torn at the bottom. But, the real gem is the “bonus” disc! Wilbur DeParis’ disc is believed to be the first stereo music offered by a major label. Here a bit of info on it from the Steve Hoffman forums:


“I think the winner, though, in terms of being the earliest stereo recording made by and released on an actual major label goes to Atlantic Records one and only recording made by stereo pioneer Emory Cook. Atlantic recorded Wilbur De Paris's jazz group in both mono and stereo in *1952*, and released the album ON ATLANTIC using Cook's wacky dual-tonearm system, as "binaural" Atlantic catalog number AL 1208 BIN”


Sadly, this disc is a VG- or maybe just a G, as it does have a lot scuffs on one side and I don’t have any sort of original cover for it. But, it’s SUPER rare!!!
