DESCRIPTION: Paddy Harmon's Dreamland Ballroom was located on the Near West Side of Chicago at the intersection of Paulina and Van Buren streets. Paddy Harmon's was a large commercial ballroom and roller skating rink which catered to young working class whites and had a generally squeaky-clean reputation. Doc Cooke was the conductor and musical director of the Orchestra at Paddy Harmon's from 1922 to 1927. Brown Sugar and High Fever were recorded in Chicago during 1926. This is an original record from that time.
