Thirteen tracks on this early Coxsone dub set - the label calls it "Mellow Dub". This LP comes in the red silkscreen cover - some other early copies come in a different blue and black cover. Perhaps it's not the best of the Studio One dub sets, and to be honest cramming seven tracks onto Side One was just beyond the cutting man's capabilities, so the sound on "Cry To Me Version" is a bit thin, but the disc itself is in good nick, subject of course to the caveat that applies to all Seventies Jamaican Studio One discs, where pressing quality was not the strongest selling point. However, it's an interesting set, perhaps most notable because two of the riddims here which were relatively obscure at the time the LP came out are now recognised as Coxsone Killers - "Bush Tea" versions Joe Riley's "You Should Have Known", but became a massive riddim when the Gladiators cut it as "Tribulation" and Carlton Livingstone made "Trodding Through the Jungle". Likewise, "Tomorrow is Over" is a dub to an old Slim Smith tune called "Rougher Yet" that went massive when Lone Ranger did it over for "Love Bump". The other tracks are - Side One: "Tricky" (Horace Andy - Just Say Who), "In the Park" (Horace Andy - Where Do the Children Play), "Lion Niah" (Heptones - Pretty Looks), "Inspector Rober" (unreleased as a vocal), Untitled extra track, "Cry To Me Version" (Wailers - Cry To Me) Side Two: "Time" (Jerry Jones - If I Only Had Time), "Creation" (Burning Spear - Creation Rebel), "Rocking Version" (Carlton Livingston - Why), "Roaring Reggae" (Burning Spear - Pick Up the Pieces), "Mellow Dub" (Righteous Flames - Seems I'm Losing You). This is changing hands for around 200 GBP these days, so get bidding....
