A holy grail for Filth fans.
This is the original 1996 single-LP press of Cradle of Filth’s undisputed masterpiece Dusk… and Her Embrace.
This is the ONLY way to hear this superior mix of the album – later represses of the album are all sourced from CD masters as can be told by the skips between tracks with no fadeouts as well as the general dynamic range.
This is a true analog wonder, a unique mix which really highlights the playing of Robin Graves who has never – EVER – sounded better than he does on this press of this album. The vinyl master really compliments Kit Woolven’s gothic wash of a mix, a blanket of keys, cymbal work and low end that never sacrifices clarity or the relentless, one of a kind precision of Nicholas Barker’s drum takes.
Included is the original poster, which is Mint – has never been hung, pinned or used in any way. See photos of both sides for evidence!

I’ve had the chance to compare this with later represses and where this copy really stands out is the quality of the artwork – later versions are scans of the same imagery but the detail of the print on this version, from the subtle photographic grain to the detail of the model’s outfit, the branches, the silver spot-printing on the band logo – it’s beautiful. A treasure. It’s also greener than later issues which applied a degree of blue to the artwork which wasn’t there in 1996, so never should have been thereafter.
The vinyl plays beautifully, too. A few pops here and there but no dirt or hiss – it’s in excellent condition and sounds excellent. A few visible marks that do not affect play are present (I’ve played it twice this morning to confirm).
The inner sleeve is also included, and is also Mint.
The sleeve itself is Near Mint as far as the front and edges are concerned. This copy has some ringwear visible on the back cover which can be seen in the photos. It appears to be in line with the shape of the record itself and shows signs of some remaining shrinkwrap which a deft hand could likely remove. This is not as severe as it appears in the photographs - I have angled it towards a harsh light source to capture the wear as honestly as possible, but it’s harder to see if you’re not looking for it. Get this in a frame for the artwork and it’s as NM as they come but overall with the wear on the rear it’s closer to Very Good Plus (per Goldmine grading guidelines). Please pay particular attention to these images as they are the only thing keeping this copy away from an NM listing from a 29-year old item.
Will be shipped in bombproof packaging in a complimentary plastic sleeve - the record itself will be stored in a polylined sleeve separate to the original inner which will not be filled.
Sensible offers will be considered but don't wait around - this won’t last long – copies of Dusk on vinyl, whichever press, usually go in days. This is the finest of them all.
