Description

A 1st mono press of DG on the Reaction label from Xmas-1967. Matrix A1/B1 - very 1st cut. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue cover with FULL lamination [back and front]. These early covers are easily identified by the ultra-thin spine, the format mentioned in the top-left on the rear [rather than right], and the track listing to the right side of the EYE is in white - all of which are absolutely consistent with the 1st design. Also included is the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-) Still in very nice condition despite having seen a moderate level of use. Do expect many light marks either side - there's one that does sound [details below]. Nothing heavy or nasty looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAREXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are mostly nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. This early copy delivers some powerful audio - just what you need with DG. Interference is mostly minor and infrequent. All we could make out was a few crackles in a coupe of isolated spots per side. Then the one deviation is a good few light ticks during 'World Of Pain' - due to the mark mentioned above. It's relatively minor and is not invasive. There's an additional couple more ticks as side 2 starts up, but that's about it. A great rendition of this very sought after TRUE 1st mono press.
Cover (Ex) A very impressive looking fully laminated DG cover. Ok, so first things first this is one of the most iconic covers from the sixties and at 1st pressing, and fully laminated, it looks glorious! A very nice clean front with beautiful bold colours and just a couple of tiny thumbnail creases. Ditto the rear and there's no sign of fade or nasty marks. Edge wear is unusually light and the openings still sharpish. Here's the unusual thing - the spine is 100% intact with no wear [this is super unusual!]. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity. A lovely specimen for sure.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits or markings.
