Cream Disraeli Gears LP **GENUINE USA 1st Press** on AT CO [Ex/Ex-]

Description

An original and very 1st press of DG on USA ATCO! Ok, so 1st things 1st...THAT label is absolute 1967 1st press - correct colour scheme before the switch in late 1968. Matrix 1B/1B. But take a closer look at the label layout and you will notice this is likely to be a very 1st iteration of DG. There's no mention of the distribution along the bottom edge, or the 1841 Atlantic address. Another sign is the band name and album title - it looks a bit shoddy. On later copies the typographer will have spaced this out properly. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue rear pasted cover - clearly a 60's 1st issue. It also mentions the early '1841 Broadway address - and the 'Windfall' publishing credit. Nice heavy card employed.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and nice to see a 60's classic looking this spritely and cared for. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of lightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with only slightest deviation in a couple of spots. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. A really very impressive rendition particularly considering its relative vintage. Lovely clean audio throughout - which is great because that means you can crank Cream right up to 11! Expect nothing more than a few crackles in one isolated spot per side [e.g. opening moments of SUNSHINE & LAMENT]. Otherwise a fantastic playing original copy. Love it - highly recommended!
Cover (Ex-) Well, these original 60's USA cover have a reputation for surfacing looking pretty god damn awful. But someone's take real care with this example. Lovely clean and flat front without any signs of fading or surface wear [unusual]. The rear is nearly always worn - but not here ... very little sign at all. Lovely clean clear imaging. There's really only very minor wear noticeable at the edges - much less than you typically find. The spine exhibits just a touch more - but the text is still 80% legible [not too bad at all really]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
