Description
An original 3rd issue of DGs on the UK Reaction label from Winter-1969. Matrix A2/B3. Please note a lot of the copies of DGs from spring 1968 through to autumn 1969 all were produced with a publishing date error. These copies, along with this copy, show the publishing date on side 2 incorrectly as 1966 and exhibit the original deep blue matt label without ridging. DGs was very much written, recorded, and released in 1967 - so the '1966' date was very random! But what it does do is help illustrate that this copy, whilst not super early, is a late 60's copy. And is not early 70's - because these later copies were subsequently corrected for date of publishing, soon had shiny labels, and then a year later exhibited a raised ridge at the edge. The heavy set vinyl comes in an original Ernest J Day cover - note how the format is now mentioned on the rear in a white box over in the top-right. Also included is an original plastic bag warning inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In fantastic condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection we struggled to make out a single mark. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Thanks to a great late 60's pressing audio quality is still absolutely superb. Interference is practically non-existent. We couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. It' a perfect rendition and easily qualifies as FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex+) Well, if only every 60's cover looked quite this sweet! Shiny like new and has clearly been very carefully looked after. The front is borderline immaculate we could only make out one minuscule thumbnail crease. The rear is unlaminated so many will be looking a bit ropy by this point - but this copy is perfectly preserved. Not a hint of ageing and only super-light signs of surface wear & one tiny crease. Edge wear is extremely light for an LP from this period. The spine is almost entirely intact with just the 'L' in Disraeli being obscured. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and totally belies its actual age.
Inner (Vg+) One side split which has been taped. No markings though and only minor ageing.
