Description

An original mono 2nd issue of DG on the UK Reaction label from 1968. Matrix A1/B2. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original front-laminated cover with "mono" appearing in the top right on the rear. It also has a few other attributes which can be found on the 1st issue design - a super-thin spine and white text on the right side of the EYE. Also included is the original Decca company inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a few light marks per side - one of which just sounds..see details below. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. A very low-mileage copy which delivers some fantastic audio and top-level transparency. If you love Disraeli Gears you really cannot go wrong with an original mono copy...it excels in every way. By and large a clean player with just a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments. The only slight deviation is caused by a light mark in "We're Going Wrong". It causes a few very light ticks in the first minute of the song. Clearly it would be better without them, but in reality they are quite minor and do not invade the sound. A small price to pay for what is, otherwise, a lovely original mono copy.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Well, Disraeli Gears always was a fantastic looking cover and when you see it on a genuine '68 copy that's been looked after - it's all the more impressive. This example looks great with a lovely shiny front which lies totally flat and I can only make out a couple of thumbnail creases. The rear, which is unlaminated on this version, totally belies its age. There's no marking or ageing or creasing - it's definitely a looker! Edge wear is mostly light and the openings are still sharp. Do not expect to make out any of the text on the spine as it has worn away [it has not worn through]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat.
