CREAM - 'DISRAELI GEARS'
This NEAR MINT UK stereo pressing of Cream's 1967 second album is on the Polydor-pressed blue & silver Reaction label: 594003
Incidentally, the title of the album is a mondegreen based on an inside joke. Eric Clapton had been thinking of buying a racing bicycle and was discussing it with Ginger Baker, when a roadie named Mick Turner commented, "it's got them Disraeli Gears", meaning to say "derailleur gears," but instead alluding to 19th Century British Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli. The band thought this was hilarious, and decided that it should be the title of their next album. Had it not been for Mick's turn of phrase, the album would simply have been titled "Cream"

Day' printed cover with front panel designed by Martin Sharp (who lived in the same building as Clapton at the time), and with back-cover photography by Bob Whitaker who was responsible for many memorable images of The Beatles, including the controversial "Yesterday and Today" 'Butcher' cover
Complete with an original poly-lined inner-sleeve

A superb set with just a single tiny, faint mark to the side 2 centre hole only
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Pristine deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart from a light 3cm fingernail scuff line are unmarked in strong daylight, with little more than a sparkling rainbow shine directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp
Sound Quality: MINT
Appears to have been barely played and the sound is flawless & wonderful throughout, with nothing more than a touch of low-level vinyl background between tracks
Cover: NEAR MINT
A vivid, vibrant & unfaded example which retains an unscratched high-gloss front laminate bearing no 'thumbnail' wrinkles or any other traces of wear. There is a touch of shelfwear to the corner tips but both opening edges are sharp and unworn. The rear panel is immaculate with no trace of any ring/storagewear
Both seams and smooth & unstressed and the spine is fully worded and totally unworn
