Super-clean full gloss Vinyl is very close to NM with only very few faint sleeve wisps visible under hard bight light. Labels are very clean both sides - faint spindle traces visible at angle to light at center.

Snapping bright and very clean with no wear, dings or soil. One soft u.r. corner crease. Small blue ink mark at u.r. front. DAEVID ALLEN signed in purple ink on back. Seams and spine 100% intact with no wear or splits. Spine text fully legible, sharp and clear.

Great First Solo album from the legendary Progressive rock icon, founder of GONG and co-founder of SOFT MACHINE.

RARE 'LOCKED GROOVE issue
Track A6 ends in an endless 'locked groove' (Cover timing says: "3h 42m 9secs approx new stylus proviso" ).

Allen's first solo album was recorded years after leaving the legendary Soft Machine and soon after forming the anarchic, experimental and drug-inspired phenomenon GONG. The album's highlights include the moody 'Memories' with ROBERT WYATT on vocals, one of the finest tracks to come out of the 'Canterbury Scene', and the rocking opener "Time Of Your Life" is a showcase for Allen's guitar pyrotechnics.

Many other of these songs are more or less improvised cauldrons of bizarre ideas, while Allen's surrealist paean to Frank Zappa: the immortal "Stoned-Innocent Frankenstein"  and the wild, Kafkaesque, epic 2nd part that follows: "...and His Adventures In The Land Of Flip", leaves no doubt about the genius of Daevid Allen.

Initially released only in France (1971) as part of BYG Records' ACTUEL series, with simplistic, rather primitive geometric cover art;
This CAROLINE release marked the 1st time it was issued in the UK - and the 1st time anywhere with Daevid Allen's own cover art.

That makes it all the more special that Daevid has hand-signed this one

One of several GONG and DAEVID ALLEN albums I am listing that Daevid Allen signed.

Most of these GONG / DAEVID ALLEN LPs were signed by Daevid Allen at his signing appearance at my record store in 1980 when I produced him in concert (Carmel California, Private invite-only gig) in a wonderful Dinner Theater - the house stage was already set for an ongoing Play as an eccentric English sitting room and was a spot-on backdrop, once Daevid had added his special touches and set pieces - during his 'DIVIDED ALIEN CLOCKWORKS' period. Some were signed after the gig; some signed the next morning (at Breakfast ...we took Daevid and his lady Maggie out to eat before he left town). a few were signed at the 'Manifestival of Progressive Rock" earlier that year in L.A.,or later that evening at a party in Hollywood where he played unannounced. This was when I initially suggested the Carmel Concert to him... My good friend Lance (and indeed my record store employee - and a dyed-in-the-wool GONG freak) was there at all times. Lance (former owner of all these LPs) put Daevid to the test with never-ending signing requests - and Daevid signed them all in different ways, sometimes with his various alter-egos - and eventually, he signed yet a 2nd copy of MAGICK BROTHER - as "EDITH SITWELL". Only then did Lance finally stop asking him to sign more LPs.

He signed this one: "daefit alung  Carmel 80" on back cover - in bold purple ink.

who was a DJ at the Radio Station I co-founded in the 1970's - and who worked for me at my California record store in the '70s and '80s.
Sadly he has now finally left this mortal coil, bequeathing me his deep Vinyl Mine.

I do NOT EVER want to exclude all bidders from any particular country, even though a few specific countries are responsible for almost all spurious "not received" or "not as described" claims over the years. This evolves... for instance in France, buyers from Ile de France area seem, more and more, to be very prone to make a false claim. Also it seems to be the fun game recently for some in Germany, Spain and Italy to buy far more than the collector can afford and make false claims on many of them. Italy has long Customs hold times. In NONE of those cases is it my fault and I will not lose out because of other countries' problems beyond my control. Having said that, I will not ever cancel any bidders with solid, good reputations and feedback.
