Halloween couldn't be a more ideal time of year for The Damned to release this career spanning collection. It's fascinating to track the progression from their early punk roots to their later post-punk and gothic leanings. This selection of songs highlights the differing speeds of the band, constantly shifting from fast-paced cuts like "Machine Gun Etiquette" and "Suicide" to more gloomy fare on tracks such as "Plan 9 Channel 7". As an introduction for new fans, and a collector's item for old, this anthology covers all the bases.
