REVIEW: Around the question for the best Thrash Metal album of all times, the answer is (mostly) clear quite quickly: "Reign In Blood" by SLAYER.However, one shouldn't forget DARK ANGEL's second release "Darkness Descends" which not in the least takes second place.
After the already extremely brilliant debut album "We Have Arrived" the second album of the thrashers struck the scene in 1986 by the most brutal force. Seven times brutest Thrash of the keg. Guitar riffs buzz around the head as furious hornets, the bass pumps out continually, singer Don Doty shouts its tirades of hate for you into the face and for the culmination of the whole the monster at the drums: Gene Hoglan, the fastest lead-foot in the west, who mercilessly hits out at his drumkit.
Despite all thrashing the whole doesn't get out of control in a senseless orgy of force, since great value is attached to variety. To highlight one song is actually nonsense since all songs are really great. Nevertheless I want to mention the title song and the new version of "Merciless Death" (in the original on the debut) which was played in here in almost double speed. ~ Metal Observer
