Description
DAVID ALLAN COE - Penitentiary Blues (SSS International SSS-9) USA 1969
Rare original copy of Coe's debut LP where he performs high calibre electric outlaw blues. Considered to be the rarest of his LPs, especially with gimmick cover intact; current prices on lists are in the $125-$150 area. To me that sounds way over the top though, so here's a really nice copy offered with a reserve far less than half of $125. See my other auctions for more psych, folk, real people etc, including lots of private pressings.
Disc: strong VG++ - a few paper scuffs only; slight warp not affecting play. This easily equals most dealers' EX or NM grades.
Cover: strong VG++ - gimmick die-cut intact; cut corner; top front right corner has really tiny yellow-ish sticker residue that you probably can remove if you're a bit patient. Again, an easy EX or better by most standards.
STRICT VISUAL GRADING UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. PLEASE DO CHECK OUT MY GRADING GUIDE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE FOR COMPLETE INFO ON THESE MATTERS.
Postage: $9 US/Japan/Australia etc, $7 Europe. Registered mail is optional and costs more. If you want me to send it registered you have to ask for it, if not I'll presume you want it sent by regular airmail.
Payment: Paypal or cash (US dollars, SEK = Svenska kronor, or Euro) in registered letter. If not cash, Japanese and European customers may pay by sending an IMO (must be made out in SEK). Don't send payment until I've confirmed that it is ok!

Gradings: Records are graded visually, unless otherwise noted. I feel that my grading is stricter than many other dealers', and you should not feel the need to shy away from lesser grades. Discs will often play better than their visual grade; for example discs visually graded EX will more often than not play M- (even VG++ discs will often play M- or close). It's not uncommon for other, well-established dealers to pick up stuff from my lists and upgrade it a whole lot. As low as VG+(+) has become M- in the hands of others! My VG++ and EX grades tend to equal most dealers' NM grade.
If there's a bigger mark or something like that on one track, it'll be noted specifically. As for the covers, all forms of cut-outs are mentioned. As soon as there's only the slightest start of a ring it's downgraded to VG++. When that's the case with especially rare and/or interesting albums, you'll find it stated. I do try to make the best gradings possible, but of course I'll make mistakes every now and then. If you feel strongly that I've misjudged the condition of an item, let me know and we'll work something out, ok?
M = new, unplayed!
M- = as new, hardly ever played
EX = might have a hairline or two; only the lightest coverwear (no ring though)
VG++ = some light and possibly audible marks, but nothing that will bother anyone but the hardcore mint fanatics
VG+(++) = more light marks, perhaps a light scratch; more coverwear and/or fuller jacket ring
VG+(+) = marks, quite a few of which may be audible; cover's obviously used and worn a lot
VG+ = very visible marks and audible too, perhaps some surface noise; obvious severe coverwear
VG(++) = will have audible marks and/or distinct surface noise; cover might have long split seams and other signs of heavy wear ...and then down to VG, VG(-) etc...it's your choice.price rating
