DAVID BOWIE: ALADDIN SANE 1973 UK PRESSING ON RCA VICTOR Cat No. RS 1001 / LSP 4852
A lovely early UK pressing in gatefold sleeve with printed card inner sleeve. A copy which would be hard to beat for audio quality.
CONDITION OF VINYL When inspected under bright light the vinyl has some visible lines and marks but there is nothing deep or major. Labels are clean with some minor spindle marks. On test it plays superbly well with a rich and bright sound and with barely any surface noise audible, even in quiet sections or between tracks. Whilst I would grade it visually as VG, the play-grade is EX+.
CONDITION OF SLEEVE As the outer cover is a matt finish, in common with most original copies, it has picked up some fingermarks and shelf-rub over the years, though the inside of the gatefold is pretty clean. There is a little creasing at the spine and corners, plus a white line worn through the red of Bowie's hair near the top seam. Please see the close-up photos. The card inner has some creasing but is fully intact. There is a barely-visible line of writing where someone has written "Let's Spend The Night Together" where the lyrics for that song would be in the track order (these weren't printed, presumably for copyright reasons). The writing is in blue pen against the dark blue background so can only be seen at certain angles to the light. Overall grade is VG.
