CONDITION: RECORD : (general condition, disregarding the hairline crack): EXCELLENT minus: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

ABOUT THIS RECORD:

This was the first 7" single released by Bowie under his own name in 1966 (to see this release in context, follow this link: http://www.bowie-singles.co.uk/Early/Cant_Help_Thinking_About_Me.html)

This particular copy was logged into a radio station record library on the 27th January 1966, with this copy there is a brown sleeve with the details typed on one side (see pic), which was standar issue for this particular radio station.

The general condition of the disc (disregarding the hairline crack) is excellent minus, it is clean and shows only three or four minor hairline marks that do not affect play. It is likely the disc was played by the radio station, but not excessively so.

There is also a Pye company sleeve from the same period the record was released.

The radio station also added a small sticker to the b-side (see pic), which has the stations catalogue number written on it.

The record found its way into a private collection in 1980, and since then it has been stored away until it was re-discovered in 2010.

OK, now to the bad news. This record has a hairline crack, so faint that it can only be spotted when held up to a bright light. The crack goes from the edge towards the centre, and is approximately 12mm (1/2") in length. This of course affects the value - but as for playing, it is barely noticeable. There is a little "click" sound when the needle is in the run-in grooves, but once the music starts it can hardly be heard. Both sides play through without any problem.

If this was a common record I would not dream of listing it, but because this is such a rare record, fetching £1000+ in mint condition, I feel it can find a home where it will be treasured. I am starting it at 99p with NO RESERVE - I am sure there will be a lot of interest.
