ORIGINAL FIRST UK PRESSING
I am offering here, this first UK pressing of David Bowie's debut album on the rare DERAM label. in MONO. for anyone that has never heard this album, every track amazingly was written by Bowie, very brave for anyone back then to self pen their debut release even the Beatles, Stones and The Who included covers on their debuts.
The tracks are as follows,
UNCLE ARTHUR - SELL ME A COAT - RUBBER BAND - LOVE YOU TILL TUESDAY - THERE IS A HAPPY LAND - WE ARE HUNGRY MEN - WHEN I LIVE MY DREAM - LITTLE BOMBARDIER - SILLY BOY BLUE - COME AND BUY MY TOYS - JOIN THE GANG - SHE'S GOT MEDALS - MAIDS OF BOND STREET - PLEASE MR GRAVEDIGGER.
The VINYL
Visually this vinyl looks superb, I have just played it through on a Linn turntable and it plays through beautifully up untill mid way through side 2 when it misses a beat on the drumming intro of JOIN THE GANG. Otherwise it plays superbly.
The DERAM labels are very clean, free from any unwanted previous owners names etc. showing just light spindle wear. The original poly lined inner has yellowed somewhat over the years but is present and correct. Again free from any unwanted graffiti.
The SLEEVE
Single non-flipback sleeve. Made by Clout & Baker Limited. Laminated with 'Clarifoil' is in what would be described as POOR condition, as it has been repaired. from when a previous owner somehow torn it all across the front.
If you are a Bowie collector who does not want to shell out £250 + for a top copy this would make a respectable filler in your collection.
As a collector myself, I know how frustrating and disappointing it is to receive a tatty item which bears very little resemblance to the description given. I try hard to be as accurate as I can when grading, and use all sources available - including the 'Record Collector Grading System.
Nor will I neglect to mention glaringly obvious vandalism such as writing on the label or sleeve. Which amazingly have been omitted from a lot of descriptions to purchases I have unfortunately gone on to make!
