David Bowie : Earthling A1 / B1 1st Press 1997 'Damont' Limited Edition
This very collectable first pressing plays to an incredibly standard on both sides with just one minor intrusion.  The final track on S1 'Seven Years In Tibet' has just one tick but otherwise plays with perfect clarity as do all the other tracks.  As always I have played every track in full so as to get that 'complete' grading and you would not be disappointed if you had just bought this record brand new.  It may have divided the critics but there is no doubting the audio quality - the clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is phenomenal.  The vinyl itself is in superb condition and I suspect has only been played once or twice at most.
The glossy cover has retained its original shape and structure perfectly and is indeed near perfect.  It has no obvious wear and the picture inner is just as impressive.  A stunning 'package' all round.

The labels are Mint-
Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still holds a stunning glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a strong bright there is one of those fade / 'heat' type lines on S1 across a couple of tracks caused during the manufacture of the record but it has absolutely no affect on the superb audio.  A handful of ultra faint hairlines and it is patently obvious this vinyl has hardly been played.  The labels are more or less perfect with only one mega faint spindle trace on S2 and a couple of the usual surface 'creases' next to the spindle hole on S1.
Play grading
The intro 'Little Wonder' plays with impeccable clarity and depth and Bowie's opening vocal section is just as strong and clear.  The following instrumental has no background at all and the first So far away vocal can also be described 'as new'.  It continues in the same precise way with not so much as a minor static sound for company.  From start to finish it plays with exceptional depth and resonance, I cannot fault it.  Superb power also with zero distortion.  Not typical Bowie of course but then what is!  This opening track is Mint in every way.
'Looking For Satellites' is of the same high standard with no interference whatsoever and once again the depth and power of the audio is exemplary.  The guitar work is stunning and the long fade out gives a good indication of the clarity on offer here.  Another Mint track.
The powerful intro on 'Battle For Britain' is flawless and the opening vocal is equal to that.  Bowie seems to be channelling his inner Damon Albarn here!  From then on it plays with sensational audio - every vocal and instrumental section 'as new' without any background.  There are some brief quieter passages and they all play with STUNNING clarity and warmth.  3/4 minor statics on the fade out so I will grade as Mint- accordingly.
The long intro on 'Seven Years In Tibet' plays perfectly and the first vocal has no background either.  As the volume increases the playback is incredible!  So clean and powerful with no intrusion.  There is one light tick during the next vocal and the next powerful vocal passage plays with phenomenal sonic quality.  The remainder is just as strong - it has to be played loud.  There is no distortion and put simply it just could not play any better.  It's such a powerful ending and the audio definition is stunning.  The long final note has no background at all.  A superb track and Near Mint+ is definitely a fair assessment of the audio.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'Dead Man Walking' plays perfectly as does the opening vocal section and it proceeds in the same way.  There is nothing to detract from the audio, no intrusion at all not even on the quieter piano piece at the end.  The clarity and depth of the audio is stunning and I have no hesitation in grading this track as Mint also.
'Telling Lies' again plays like it has never been played before!  One of the stronger tracks on the album, a little more reminiscent of his earlier 'sound', it is 'as new' through every section. A stunning Mint version.   The more experimental 'The Last Thing You Should Do' is just as impressive with literally no background.  No need to prevaricate it is Mint from start to finish.
The intro on 'I'm Afraid Of Americans' has no interference and the opening vocal is just as clean.  As the volume increases the depth and power is very obvious and the clarity remains 10/10.  From then on it plays with clinical precision - a CD like aesthetic quality but with a warmth and depth you only find on vinyl.  The quieter vocal passage towards the end plays beautifully as does the next vocal section.  The remainder is flawless and Mint is again deserved.
'Law (Earthlings On Fire)' ends the album with supreme quality.  Every vocal and instrumental section play with stunning precision and obviously there are no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  Just pure Mint audio from the first note to the last.
The Gatefold & Picture Inner
The very glossy cover is in superb condition, in fact it is practically brand new!  The wide edges and spine are in perfect shape with no indents or marking and the corners are incredibly clean also.  Perhaps just a minor 'rub' in the bottom right corner but so so minimal.  The front cover is perfectly clean with the Limited Edition still firmly attached and the back cover is just as impressive.  The inside of the gatefold is close to pristine with only a small number of insignificant 'specks' / rubs on the inner spine.  This is a cover that has been so well preserved over the last 28 years, a stunning example.
The equally glossy picture inner is very nearly 'as new' with only a hint of ringwear rubbing near the top edge on the 'eye' side.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
