DAVID BOWIE - HUNKY DORY 

RCA LABEL FIRST UK PRESSING OF THIS 1971 CLASSIC BOWIE LP WITH MEGA RARE FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE AND LYRIC INSERT.

This classic BOWIE album was first released back in December 1971 at a time before BOWIE hit the big time with Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from mars. The actual selling quantity of this great album was as low, if not lower, than his previous album The man who sold the world. Therefore, this album was quickly deleted after only selling in a very small quantity. It was not untill the following September, after the huge success of his Ziggy album, which had been released in the June when this great album was re issued and re distributed that it then managed to make the top three in the UK charts. However, The re issued copies of this album that sold in huge amounts in late 1972 were in fact completely different to this Original first pressing which was first released (and flopped) back in December 1971. As a result finding a 100% genuine 1971 first pressing with major differences is almost impossible, and makes this album one of the rarest BOWIE albums. The differences between original first pressings and later pressings are as follows.

FIRSTLY THE MOST OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE COVER IS LAMINATED, AND IS THICKER & SUPERIOR QUALITY. THIS MAKES THE COLOURS LOOK RICHER COMPARED TO THE POORER QUALITY THINNER UN LAMINATED LATER RE-ISSUES.

SECONDLY THE ORANGE RCA LABELS ARE SHINY, LATER ISSUES ARE MATT AND HAVE DIFFERENT LABEL CREDITS, ONLY THE EARLIEST FIRST PRESSINGS HAVE THESE UNIQUE LABEL CREDITS 

THIRDLY THERE ARE NO MAINMAN CREDITS TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE ON ANY PART OF THIS ALBUM UNLIKE LATER ISSUES.

FOURTHLY THE FIRST ISSUE LYRIC INSERT IS OF THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS TYPE WITH 1ST PRESS CREDITS IDENTICAL TO THE LABELS & COVER. ALL IN ALL A VERY RARE ALBUM THAT RARELY TURNS UP FOR SALE. 

ALL IN ALL A 100% COMPLETE ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING OF THIS MONUMENTAL BOWIE CLASSIC.

The VINYL, the Vinyl Visually is in very good condition, It is displaying some surface marks on the last track the Bewley Brothers otherwise it looks very good. Audibly it plays through nicely with crisp vibrant sound and just the odd light spit and a few pops. especially on the last track but overall its a great player.

The LABELS, The shiny first issue labels are very clean free from any unwanted writing or stickers etc.

The SLEEVE, The front laminated Robert Stace single Sleeve is in Very good condition condition, it is showing some creasing to the top corner and some wear to the corners. Overall it is clean and free from any stickers or unwanted writing etc.

The first issue lyric inner is showing some wear but  is free from any stickers or unwanted names etc.
