Description
Up for auction is a copy of Hunky Dory by David Bowie, released in 1971 on RCA Victor, cat no SF 8244, a first UK pressing. This copy is housed in a rare laminated cover (possessing the “Gem Production” credit on the rear), with Bobil & Rasputin etched into the dead wax, and -3T matrix numbers on each side. This edition dates from 1971, a full year before Bowie’s chart career took off in earnest, and as such is as almost as hard to find as his first three albums.
Condition: many marks on the vinyl, but plays through with clicks & pops, but no jumps or sticks. One small pen mark on each label. Cover has many creases, areas of wear, a couple of sections where tape has been removed, and a couple of inches of seam splitting on the spine. Name & dedication written on the rear. I can’t grade this higher than G-/G (vinyl/cover). Don’t expect a mint copy. Don’t even expect a VG copy. But if you want to own one of Bowie’s rarest LPs, here’s a way to make it yours for a bargain price.
My grades: I use a 10-point scale: M-; EX; VG+; VG; VG-; G+; G; G-; F (fair); P (poor). I never use mint as a grade for used records. I am a long-time (25+ years!) record collector, and play-grade where possible. I don’t use stock photos: the item in pictured here is the item for sale. My feedback from buyers indicates I normally undergrade in listings. Even so, if you have any problems, I'll give you your money back (less shipping costs), no questions asked. Buy with confidence!
