DAVID BOWIE : I DIG EVERYTHING / I'M NOT LOSING SLEEP

1966 UK 7" PYE 7N.17157 MEGA RARE VINYL SINGLE!

I bought this record in my home town of Dartford shortly after it's release in 1966 as I was very much into mod music by the likes of the similarily named DAVE BERRY of CRYING GAME fame.

Ironically, I was never a big Bowie fan once he got into his glam rock phase of the seventies but I loved his early singles such as this, 'Space Oddity' and even 'The Laughing Gnome' with it's shades of Anthony Newley.

I DIG EVERYTHING was the last of three Bowie singles for Pye, and probably the only one to get decent air play or I'd have never had heard it on Radio Luxembourg. But, he only achieved fame two singles later with the release of 'Space Oddity' with it's topical space theme at the time of the first moon landings. I believe he changed his name to Bowie when he released the Pye singles - I know this truly rare disc will be of great interest to Bowie fans as it was released just before he hit the big time.

I'M NOT LOSING SLEEP is an exceptionally brilliant B side - good enough to be an A side, in my humble opinion.

You can tell I am the original, and only, owner of this mega rare record because I wrote my name on the pop out centre of the A side - as you can see in the photo. Nothing is written on the B side pop put centre. When I bought the disc I replaced the original sleeve with a posh cardboard one with a plastic liner to protect it but found another Pye sleeve in which to sell it. This sleeve has no markings aside from an erased biro number in the top right white panel of the A side and a tiny light stain on the B side white panel.

I'm am not a dealer so can't use their words to describe the quality of this record but rest assured I've treasured it over these past 46 years. I played it prior to listing and on both sides could hear no jumps or clicks  and the sound quality is very good. Visibly, the disc is in superb condition.
