Description
DAVID BOWIE
LOW.
1977 SOUTH AFRICAN
WHITE LABEL PROMO.
RARE !!!
THIS IS LOW.
David Bowie`s 1977 MASTERPIECE. If you were to do a survey of all the
Bowie fans on Earth asking what is Bowie`s best LP, this is what they would say....
Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust , Aladdin Sane , Diamond dogs....
Who among you would disagree with that ?
Ask the worlds most professional musicians and LOW is the choice every time.
I love what Paul McCartney says about Bowie. He said "yeah the Beatles are by
far the biggest group ever, but if your talking influential its Roxy Music and Bowie.
And it`s Bowie`s LOW LP . It dosen`t pander to the listener it challenges the listener and that, is very clever". I myself understand that comment , I was listening to LOW for 5 years before I finally understood or
"got it".
David himself said "Low is my DNA . Cut me, and I bleed
LOW".
I love that quote....
This White label promo pressing is from South Africa and it is exceptionally
rare. Pressed on heavy wax with a beautiful white label . Double click the
pictures and look around the spindle hole and you will see this label is
heavily textured even rough to touch.....
It is not unlike those Pink Island textured labels from the early
1970`s . Like the Nick Drake ,or King Crimson LPs of that time.
The vinyl has a few wispy marks but it plays superbly all the way
a conservative grading on the vinyl would be Very Good ++.
The sleeve unlike the UK and USA stock issue is of the Flip Back
variety again typical of the 1970`s. The condition of the sleeve
is Very Good. Its a bit worn here and there because this sleeve
was never laminated but it is extremely rare.
I play this LP regularly, but spend every time I play it I spend 20
minutes just looking at the label.
My misus thinks im a nut. But I just love this LP .
It`s rarety fascinates me.
WARSAWA .
Did you ever hear a more harrowing song .
It should have been the soundtrack to Schindler`s List .
I can play New career in a new Town 50 times and not bore of it.
I love the time an interviewer asked Bowie "why did you not put
words to the Instrumentals on Low ?".
Bowie`s answer .......
"No language exists that could describe how I was
feeling when I recorded LOW".
Those are the words of a genius.
