Description
- David Bowie released his seventh studio album "Pinups" in October 1973 on RCA Victor Records. It includes 12 tracks of Bowie doing cover tunes by The Who, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, Yardbirds, Easybeats, Them, and more. It was recorded that summer at the 18th Century Chateau d'Herouville outside Paris at a time when he had five of his six previous albums still in the Top 40. There is considerable confusion about the album's title. It is listed as one word "Pinups" on the front cover and inner sleeve but is written as two words "Pin Ups" on the spine and disc labels. That's 60's supermodel Twiggy with Bowie on the cover.
- This copy of (APL1-0291) is from the First Pressing and is in Near-Mint condition with its original Factory Shrink Wrap still largely attached. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays cleanly and is VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was co-produced by Ken Scott, engineered by Denis Blackeye and this copy was pressed at the RCA Records plant in Hollywood. The Side One dead wax is stamped APL1-0291A-7 H.
- In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve. It will ship securely in the special corrugated Album Mailer seen in the last picture.
- This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 48 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
