Why buy a first or early pressing and not a re-issue or a ‘re-mastered’ vinyl album?
First pressings are made from first generation lacquers and stampers. They usually sound vastly superior to later issues and re-issues (which are often pressed from whatever tapes or digital sources are currently available).
Many recent vinyl pressings claim to be mastered from ‘original tapes’ and are pressed on expensive 180g vinyl. Sonically, they frequently sound disappointing when compared to a decent condition first pressing. All too often, they sound like a CD pressed onto vinyl.
If you want the best analogue reproduction possible from vinyl, it is always a better investment to seek out original pressings in clean playing condition. They nearly always have more immediacy, presence and dynamics. The sound staging is wider, and subtle nuances are better placed with more spacious textures. Balances are firmer in the bottom end with the bass far tighter. Upper-mids shine, and the overall depth is more immersive. Inner details are clearer, and the music tends to sound more ‘alive’.

SLEEVE: EXCELLENT MINUS, STILL IN SHRINK WRAP, JUST LIGHT CORNER AND EDGE WEAR. INNER SLEEVE IS VERY GOOD+ WITH NO SEAM SPLITS.
DISC: VISUALLY VERY GOOD+ THAT PLAYS VERY GOOD+ AND SOME EXCELLENT MINUS. THERE IS A SCRATCH ON SIDE A THAT CLICKS SOMETIMES, MINOR SPINDLE WEAR AND PLAY SCUFFS AND LIGHT HAIRLINES. CLEAN LABELS. THIS IS THE THICKEST ORANGE RCA DYNAFLEX VINYL WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED, IT MUST HAVE SLIPPED THROUGH THE PRESSING PLANT! IT DEFINATELY DOES NOT 'FLEX' - IT IS MORE LIKE AN OLD RCA SHADED DOG PRESSING. AS SUCH, ALTHOUGH IT IS IN LESSER CONDITION (BUT STILL A DECENT ENOUGH PLAYING COPY) IT HAS VASTLY SUPERIOR AUDIO TO ANY OTHER WOBBLY DYNAFLEX PRESSING WE HAVE HEARD - THE BASS IS DEEP AND FIRM AND THE WHOLE ALBUM SOUNDS BETTER. IF YOU DO NOT MIND A FWE MINOR DEFECTS, THIS IS DEFINATELY A GOOD COPY TO OWN WITH AN IMMACULATE SLEEVE.
