Description
Up for auction is a very nice original pressing of the David Bowie album Young Americans, originally released in the U.S. on RCA (APL1-0998) in 1975:
-Guaranteed original 1st pressing, not reissue -Original and correct Tan RCA labels -Original matte textured cover
-Original inner sleeve w/ lyrics (has small closed tear top edge)
-Original opened factory shrink wrap -Original hype sticker -Promotional factory punch hole -Fan promo insert (super rare!)
-NOT record club pressing -Vinyl comes in poly audiophile protective inner sleeve
Note:
Original U.S. pressings of Young Americans have the APL1-0998 catalog number--most copies sold as "original" on ebay do not have this proper number--they are reissues.
Also note that these matte textured covers were very prone to wear, and unless they are still in shrink wrap like this one, they are going to show signs of wear.
This is one of the nicer copies of Young Americans that I've come across in 40 years of collecting--and the only promo copy with the original Fan flyer.
Condition: Cover looks very nice, still protected by original open partial shrink wrap. No ring wear on front or back, no significant signs of wear. Corners are sharp, not bumped, chipped or rubbed. Seams are nice, intact, no splits. Shrink is torn, with a portion on front upper right missing (see photo), but still very nice and clean.
Grade: Excellent (EX)
Vinyl also looks very nice, still has its original glossy shine. Both sides look very clean, but under a strong light, perhaps some faint superficial signs of having been taken out of paper inner sleeve a few times. Very nice clean sound quality for an original pressing! No marks around spindle holes. Looks like this record has maybe been played only once, if that, previously but handled with care. Grade: Near Mint (NM)
Combined Shipping:
Yes, I offer significant combined shipping discounts. Just ask!
International Shipping:
Because of unreliable postal services, I will ship internationally only through eBay's Global Shipping Program. It is more expensive, but it protects both the buyer and seller against loss or damage.
How I Pack Your Records:
I remove the records with inner sleeves from the covers prior to packing. I sandwich the record between two pieces of cardboard for padding and protection. I also reinforce the corners of the shipping box to protect the corners of the record jacket from damage.
100% satisfaction guaranteed, free returns on all albums. My 100% positive feedback on rare vinyl allows you to buy with confidence.
About Me: -I have been a record collector for over 40 years and a seller on eBay for over 20 years.
-I consider myself a professional, not someone who is selling records he found at a garage sale like many on eBay.
-I try to grade accurately -- beware of sellers who claim they grade "conservatively" -- rarely is that the case.
-I don't just give a record a grade, but I also explain why I give it the grade that I do. -I explain why I describe a record as "original" or a "first pressing" -- most records on sold on eBay as original are NOT. -I visually grade my records, and sometimes spot-test them for audio quality -- I can't listen to them all the way through. -Every stereo system is different, and what sounds good on mine may not sound good on yours. If so, return it. -Every seller makes mistakes not matter how much experience they have -- record selling is NOT a perfect science. -If I make a mistake, or the record isn't what you expected, return it for a full refund -- and I will pay for return shipping. -I have 100% positive feedback for a reason -- and I strive to keep it that way by being accurate about what I sell.
