ORIGINAL UK RCA (RS 1006) FIRST PRESSING (March 1975) OF DAVID BOWIE'S VASTLY UNDERRATED "Young Americans" LP - HIS VENTURE INTO HIGHLY STYLISED PHILLY SOUL - AND IT'S IN STUNNING, POSSIBLY COMPLETELY UNPLAYED CONDITION (the labels show no spindles or signs of use and the vinyl surfaces are unmarked and shine like new) AND THE AUDIO DELIVERY IS SENSATIONAL THROUGHOUT - A BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN PRESSING - FANTASTIC COPY AND THEY DON'T COME MUCH BETTER THAN THIS - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED INDEED
PRESSED ON QUALITY MID-WEIGHT VINYL (surprisingly thick and chunky for the time and much more robust than later pressings) WITH THE FIRST ISSUE RCA MATT ORANGE LABELS 
MATRIX: RS-1006-A-1E / RS-1006-B-3E 
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATT SLEEVE PRINTED BY “Shorewood Packaging Co. Ltd., England” SADLY IT IS MSSING THE ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE BUT THERE IS A PLAIN WHITE SLEEVE PRESENT.
David Bowie had dropped hints during the Diamond Dogs tour that he was moving toward R&B, but the full-blown blue-eyed soul of Young Americans came as a shock.  Surrounding himself with first-rate session-men, Bowie comes up with a set of songs that approximate the sound of Philly soul and disco, yet remain detached from their inspirations; even at his most passionate, Bowie sounds like a commentator, as if the entire album was a genre exercise.  Nevertheless, the distance doesn't hurt the album -- it gives the record its own distinctive flavour, and its plastic, robotic soul helped inform generations of synthetic British soul

LABELS: Clean, bright and fresh labels with no spindle traces or signs of use 
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, like-new glossy sheen and with around 8 minor light scuffs/scratches on side A and around the same on side B but more noticeable VG+/VG-
SLEEVE: The untreated matt sleeve is clean and unmarked but being predominantly black it's very prone to showing any storage rubbing and this one is no exception. Both the front and back surfaces have some rubbing but this is critically graded as VG+ - a fine original 1975 sleeve
