EXCELLENT COPY WHICH SOUNDS SENSATIONAL AT A LOUD VOLUME (which is how I always play-grade my records) CRYSTAL CLEAR, WARM, RICH and VERY STRONG AUDIO - FANTASTIC CUT ON THIS LP

PRESSED ON QUALITY MID-WEIGHT VINYL (much heavier weight than later pressings)
THE ALBUM HAS THE FIRST ISSUE RCA SMOOTH, GLOSSY ORANGE LABELS WHICH CARRY THE FIRST "Titanic Music / Chrysalis Music" CREDIT (changed just a few months later to MainMan / Chrysalis text)
AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL, MATTE SLEEVE, "Printed in England by Robert Stace" WITH NO MainMan LOGO ON THE BACK (which is present on all copies after December 1972)
COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL LYRIC INNER SLEEVE (Correct first inner again with "Titanic Music Limited / Chrysalis Limited" credits)

Borrowing heavily from Marc Bolan's glam rock and the future shock of A Clockwork Orange, David Bowie reached back to the heavy rock of The Man Who Sold the World for The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
Constructed as a loose concept album about an androgynous alien rock star named Ziggy Stardust, the story falls apart quickly, yet Bowie's fractured, paranoid lyrics are evocative of a decadent, decaying future, and the music echoes an apocalyptic, nuclear dread.
Fleshing out the off-kilter metallic mix with fatter guitars, genuine pop songs, string sections, keyboards, and a cinematic flourish, Ziggy Stardust is a glitzy array of riffs, hooks, melodrama, and style and the logical culmination of glam.
Mick Ronson plays with a maverick flair that invigorates rockers like "Suffragette City," "Moonage Daydream," and "Hang Onto Yourself," while "Lady Stardust," "Five Years," and "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" have a grand sense of staged drama previously unheard of in rock & roll. And that self-conscious sense of theatre is part of the reason why Ziggy Stardust sounds so foreign.
Bowie succeeds not in spite of his pretensions but because of them, and Ziggy Stardust -- familiar in structure, but alien in performance -- is the first time his vision and execution met in such a grand, sweeping fashion

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and NO evident spindles that I can see
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its original DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN. Under a bright light the surfaces have some superficial light marks but these have little audio consequence (see detailed audio assessment below)
VINYL Audio: CRYSTAL CLEAR, WARM, RICH and VERY STRONG audio reproduction. SENSATIONAL DELIVERY THROUGHOUT - "TO BE PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME" as suggested on the back of the sleeve and I play-graded the LP VERY LOUD indeed. There are NO jumps, NO sticks, NO scratches, only a few light clicks/pops (one tiny mark gives rise to 6 clicks between the tracks 'Starman' and 'It Ain't Easy' but these are the only ones which rise above background level) and there is a touch of minor surface noise between some (not all) of the tracks. Overall, the record plays to a very high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO discernible groove-wear or distortion and is critically graded an EXCELLENT for audio - SOUNDS SENSATIONAL. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The first issued sleeve is CLEAN, BRIGHT and FRESH. There is virtually NO edge wear to speak of and the spine is straight and true with ALL the text SHARP and BOLD. There is a slight touch of the record impression and a couple of light creases but overall, an EXCELLENT to (+) example of this first press sleeve. Although the sleeve is matte there is a slight sheen to the surfaces and the blacks on the sleeve are a dark brown in colour
INNER SLEEVE: Correct original inner with "Titanic Music Limited / Chrysalis Limited" credits. CLEAN, FRESH and UNMARKED but most importantly it has NO splits which is very rare as the inner which is printed on thin paper and is very delicate. There are some light handling creases but nothing major. The LP will be posted in a new inner to avoid any 'knifing' of the original during transit
